The race distance is equivalent to 71 Marathons

The waves that the rowers experience can measure up to 20ft high

Each team will row in excess of 1.5 million oar strokes during a race.

Each team member will be rowing 2hrs on 2hrs off, 24/7

Each rower burn in excess of 5,000 calories per day

Each rower will drink 10ltrs of water each per day

The average rower loses around 8kg during a crossing

The rowers will battle with salt sores, sun stroke and seasickness – not to mention the dreaded 4 Men 1 Bucket!
